Julien Vermeulen
The career and legacy
of a visionary designer

An encounter with the feather
___ Julien Vermeulen, founder of the Maison, discovered featherwork during his artistic career. Trained in applied arts at the Lycée Octave Feuillet, the last French school to teach featherwork, Julien Vermeulen obtained a BTS in fashion design and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Art Sciences. His encounter with feathers at Jean Paul Gaultier was a revelation: he understood that feathers could be much more than mere ornaments, that they had the power to metamorphose in his hands. Early on, he developed an experimental approach to volume and materials.
In 2014, he set up his own workshop with a clear ambition: to breathe new life into featherwork. Before long, he was collaborating with the biggest names in fashion, shaping unique pieces that reinvent the codes of luxury and craftsmanship. Dior, Cartier, Louis Vuitton…

“I seek to reinvent the craft, to push technique to the heart of the material.”
